Learning and fun: how gamification makes a difference in training

Gamificação nos treinamentos

Gamification in training is currently on the rise. In addition to being more aware of the importance of training of their workers,companies are betting more on innovating as a strategy to attract attention.

And that's where gamification in training stands out: it makes participants pay attention through gaming dynamics, engaging the professionals via competitions and, most importantly, making everyone learn more thanks the moments of relaxation it enables.

And this is how gamification stands out, combining learning with fun. Being able to get the employees' attention during training is increasingly difficult, but this format solves this problem.

The impacts of gamification on training

Ao investir em um gamified training, the company is not only investing in employee training, but also investing in achieving better results, whether in increasing sales or customer satisfaction.

As mentioned, training gamification makes the participant really learn what is being taught. Although it might not seem so, it's increasingly difficult to attract employee attention due to the number of distractions that go through one's mind.

In times of Internet access and social networks, catching people's attention becomes a very difficult mission. But gamification solves this issue in several ways:

  • Gamified training uses the smartphones as tools, through applications or other platforms;
  • Gamification proposes competitions between employees, in which the winners can get prizes;
  •  Due to the gaming nature, users are entertained and have fun while learning.

This last topic is perhaps the most impacting when we talk about training gamification. When learning is combined with fun, the tendency is for employees to retain more information, since the brain associates knowledge with each individual's experiences during its acquisition.

For example, a survey produced by TalentLMS showed that 83% of employees said they felt more motivated with gamified training in comparison with traditional training. Meanwhile, the number of employees stating that they felt bored dropped from 49% to only 10%.

2018 Workplace Learning Report, made by the LinkedIn social network, pointed out that 68% of employees prefer to learn in practice, while 58% want to learn at their own pace.

Traditional training - those that have one or more speakers presenting slide shows - are already seen as outdated and, in many cases, even tedious. Therefore, a more fun and dynamic training process results in increased participant engagement.

Training and motivation

The simple fact of having training processes in place has a direct impact on employee motivation. When the company invests in training professionals, they feel more valued and realize that they are an important part of the organization. Furthermore, it represents a path for them to advance in their careers.

However, training gamification has a few differentials that also impact motivation:

Interaction between participants

Due to its gaming dynamics, in which those involved compete with each other, employees end up having a moment of relaxation, which makes them interact and get to know each other better.

Feedback instantâneo

When employees make mistakes during gamified training, they immediately know what their mistake was and, as a result, have a better learning experience.

Learning

Upon completing the training, employees are strengthened and better prepared for their daily activities, increasing their productivity and making them even more qualified professionals.

In other words, investing in training gamification is indeed a good way to teach employees and keep them motivated and engaged. Want to know more about this topic and about how Play2sell can help you? Click here and schedule a meeting with one of our consultants.
